Whistler Pre-Trip

Dear Mini School Parents and Students,

I took it upon myself to do a pre-trip visit to Whistler this past weekend!  I was able to pick up our lift passes and lunch vouchers to save some time on Thursday morning.  Sunny and Avi (Grade 11 Whistler Trip Leaders) are working hard to make sure the lift passes will be passed out to the appropriate busses.  They have already done a great deal of work collecting and organizing forms.

Bus 1 – Grade 12’s

Bus 2- Grade 11’s

Bus 3 – Grade 8’s

Grade 10’s and 9’s will fill in the spaces.  Students in these two grades will be assigned prior to the trip in classes.

This past weekend, there was 34cm of new snow, an alpine temperature of -7 degrees Celsius, and high winds plus fog.  It was quite a cold, wet and windy day.  So it is very important to be prepared for the elements.  In particular, goggles and a good set of jacket and pants to keep you DRY!  Also, at the top of the mid-mountain Jersey Cream chair, there was white out conditions and it was very difficult to see and I even experienced vertigo for a couple seconds!  Before I knew it, I had already fallen and snapped my neck back and luckily only lightly hit my head.  With that said, it is very important that all students have a HELMET.  Safety comes first, always.

On the left tool bar, please click the link for the Whistler Trip Equipment List.

Although the weather conditions were not the greatest, my day on the hill was still spectacular.  I am looking forward to our trip with great anticipation and a hope for weather like…..
