Baba Brinkman – A Modern Troubadour in McNair’s Library

On Tuesday, February 15, 2011, several of McNair’s English classes congregated in the school library for a very special performance.  Baba Brinkman—Medievalist, Chaucerian scholar and raconteur—rapped his own renditions of Beowulf, The Canterbury Tales, and some of his own, Darwinian-inspired lyrics.  He performs all over the world for crowds that range from high school students to professors at Harvard University.   An accomplished scholar and master wordsmith, Baba Brinkman delighted and inspired us with his rap-tales for over an hour!
SHAW TV also joined us for the event, and the following clip aired on their Sunday news program on February 20.  Two of our grade 12 minis, Scott McGowan and Rachel Letwin, were interviewed by the Shaw reporter, speaking insightfully and articulately about their educational experience.  Take a view!
