Annual Mini School Potluck – December 13, 2011

Dear Mini Parents and Students,

‘Tis the season, and we have just secured a date for our Christmas Potluck on Tuesday, December 13, 2011.  In the coming weeks, you will receive a personal invitation including all the details (time, place, what to bring, etc.).  Until then, here is some information about this year’s Potluck!

Potluck Performance Auditions *New this year!*

In past years, all of our Mini classes have been required to perform a song at the potluck.  This year, we have decided to shake things up a bit, so Ms. Theresa Watts and Mr. Adam Tuerlings will be holding auditions for Potluck performances!  Students should prepare a holiday-related song, dance or skit and then bring their skills to the stage this Friday, November 18 at lunch (location TBA).  Soloists and groups of all grade levels are encouraged to come out!

Ms. Watts and Mr. Tuerlings will be selecting several acts for the night of the Potluck.  *NOTE: Audition performances need not be polished at this point.  We are looking for enthusiastic, outgoing and entertaining numbers.

Silent Auction and Grade Baskets

It has become a tradition at our Potluck for each grade to assemble an attractive, themed basket for five “door prizes” at our potluck.  Each student is encouraged to contribute a small item (between $5-$10) for their class basket.  The money raised from this fun raffle–along with our silent auction–goes toward sending our grade 12 class to a soup kitchen in February.  Over the past three years, our grade 12s have not only served lunch at a downtown east-side soup kitchen, but they also purchased the food necessary to feed a few hundred people.  Thank you for helping us to keep this tradition alive.   Your son/daughter will be bringing home more information regarding the baskets later this week.
