Wanted: A Pair of Hip Waders

Hip Waders

Dear Mini School Parents,

Each year, grade 9 Mini school students go to the Seymour Salmon Hatchery in North Vancouver.  Unfortunately, we are not able to go to the hatchery this year, but we do have a spot reserved for next year.

Visiting the hatchery gives students an amazing opportunity to help out with research by doing seine-net capture in addition to capturing, counting, and tagging the salmon returning for spawning.  This task would not be possible without the assistance of a pair of hip waders.

The Hatchery is in need of a pair of hip waders to conduct research this year.  If anyone has a pair that they would like to donate please contact Tamera Hunt at thunt@sd38.bc.ca.  Alternately, perhaps someone knows where we might borrow or rent some waders, or purchase a few pairs second hand?

As always, your assistance is greatly appreciated!

The Mini School Team
